Cellist-composer Manuel Lipstein performs in prestigious venues such as the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Kölner Philharmonie, the Herkulessaal München, and the Beijing Concert Hall. His travels take him not only across Europe but also to countries such as Japan, China, Malaysia, and Armenia. Manuel Lipstein has special artistic experiences as a soloist with orchestras such as the WDR Symphony Orchestra and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen. His debut CD will be released by NAXOS in the summer of 2024.

As a cellist, Manuel Lipstein impresses international juries: he received the Premier Grand Prix at the "Concours Flame" in Paris, as well as the first prize and special prize at the "Concours de Violoncelle Prix Edmond Baert" in Brussels. As the youngest participant ever, he became a finalist at "TONALi" in Hamburg and received the third prize. Additionally, as a Heinrich Böll scholar, he is an active chamber musician, collaborating not only with pianists like his brother Rafael but also in a duo with Linda Guo (violin) and with his quartet Philimaro. He was awarded the "WDR 3 Klassikpreis der Stadt Münster" and the Chamber Music Prize of the Polytechnische Gesellschaft. Manuel Lipstein is the only person ever to be a two-time recipient of the "Best of NRW" award.

However, interpreting existing repertoire is not enough for the 23-year-old artist: his compositions are heard worldwide, including at the AchtBrücken Festival in Cologne, the BTHVN Festival in Bonn, the Aurora Festival in Sweden, the Cello Biennale Amsterdam, the Thöne Festival in Kuala Lumpur, and as compulsory pieces at the ERPS Competition in Bolzano. He has received numerous national awards in "Jugend Komponiert," has been broadcast multiple times on radio, and regularly receives composition commissions, such as from the Neue Lausitzer Philharmonie. His compositions are published by Editions Walhall (Magdeburg) and Musica Ferrum (London). Additionally, he serves as a tutor for chamber music and leads improvisation workshops, for example, in Kronberg and Görlitz.

At the age of only ten, Manuel Lipstein became a young student of Prof. Katharina Deserno at the Musikhochschule Köln in 2011, where he continued his junior studies with Prof. Maria Kliegel from 2015 to 2019. Since January 2020, he has been receiving composition lessons from Prof. Gerhard Müller-Hornbach and, from 2020 to 2021, conducting lessons from Prof. Vassilis Christopoulos. In historical performance practice, he is instructed by Antoine Tamestit, Prof. Reinhard Goebel, and Prof. Kristin von der Goltz. He also draws inspiration from masterclasses with figures such as Martha Argerich, András Schiff, Kirill Gerstein, Steven Isserlis, Leonid Gorokhov, Wolfgang-Emanuel Schmidt, and Jens-Peter Maintz.

From 2019 to 2024 he studied at Kronberg Academy with Frans Helmerson. His studies were funded by the Dr Rainer und Christel Stoll patronage, he was also supported by Jan Kleinewefers.
