Mit Musik –
Miteinander
“The journey is the destination” is a saying that undoubtedly applies to collective music making, and in the Mit Musik - Miteinander chamber music project participants and audience members benefit in equal measure. Here, young musicians who had the fortune to play with and learn from distinguished artists at Chamber Music Connects the World themselves take on the role of tutor.
Bows at the ready, set... go!
During the three-day workshop, Fumika Mohri, Ivan Karizna and Karolina Errera work on challenging chamber music pieces together with young prizewinners from national competitions, putting practical experience into the hands – and bows – of the younger players. At the end of the open rehearsal days, a closing concert takes place in the Grand Hall of the Casals Forum.
Twice a year, prize winners of the national competitions Jugend musiziert (Germany), prima la musica (Austria) and the Schweizerischer Jugendmusikwettbewerb (Switzerland) are invited to come to Kronberg for the Mit Musik – Miteinander chamber music project. Here, participants play music with young tutors who are next generation artists on the threshold of international careers.
The next of these chamber music projects for talented young violinists, viola players and cellists will take place from April 4 to 6, 2025 at the Casals Forum (Carl Bechstein Hall) in Kronberg.
The project is funded by the Crespo Foundation and takes places twice a year in Kronberg im Taunus. Collaborations with the German Music Council, Austrian organisation Musik der Jugend, TONALi and with the Schweizerischer Jugendmusikwettbewerb enable the event to take place.
Mit Musik – Miteinander follows the example of Chamber Music Connects the World, another Kronberg Academy project that is likewise funded by the Crespo Foundation. Here, outstanding musicians aged between 19 and 29 years old come together every two years with the great artists of our time, such as Gidon Kremer, Yuri Bashmet and Christian Tetzlaff – the “Juniors” and “Seniors” collectively rehearsing and mastering chamber music works.
In Mit Musik – Miteinander, three of these Juniors become tutors themselves, passing on their knowledge and experience to you through a whole weekend of music making. These young artists are already sought-after soloists and chamber musicians, or members of prestigious orchestras, working to busy concert schedules in both their home countries and abroad.
If you would like to take part and experience three days full of music and excitement, please send us your application, including your biography and a current, professional photo, by January 27, 2025 at the latest via the online application form. The biography should be well-formulated and no more than half a standard A4 page in length.
Thanks to the support of the Crespo Foundation, participation in Mit Musik – Miteinander is free of charge.
Mit Musik – Miteinander is a workshop in which you join the tutors in public rehearsals to study and master movements from great chamber music works (quartets, quintets etc). While doing so, you will have the opportunity to hold in-depth discussions with the tutors, to ask questions and to contribute your talents and ideas to the rehearsals.
The works will be selected by the tutors in consultation with Kronberg Academy and sent to participants well in advance of the event. Each participant will play in at least two of the works, meaning that good preparation is essential!
