Born in 2000, Italian cellist Luca Giovannini has developed into an outstanding artist of his generation. He won the prestigious Johannes Brahms Competition 2018, third prize at the Schoenfeld Competition and second prize at the Janigro Young Competition 2016. 

He has performed as a soloist in many concert halls, such as the Brahms Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Carnegie Hall New York, the Berlin Philharmonie, Victoria Hall in Geneva, Harbin Opera House (China), the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the "Sala Maffeiana" in Verona, the "Salone dei Cinquecento" in Florence, the "Sale Apollinee" della Fenice in Venice and "Sala degli Affreschi" in Milan. He has also been invited as a guest on two television programs, Rai1 and Rai 2. 

Luca has performed with many orchestras around the world, such as the City Philharmonic of Tokyo under the direction of M° Yuki Miyagi, "I Virtuosi Italiani" under the direction of M° Piero Martini, the Orchestra OPV under the direction of F. Rosa, the Orchestra Slovak Sinfonietta Žilina, the Orchestra "I solisti Veneti" and with the Youth Orchestra Orcreiamo under the direction of M° F. M. Bressan.

He regularly takes part in important music festivals such as the Seiji Ozawa International Academy or the Gstaad String Academy, has taken part in master classes and worked with many artists, including A. Schiff, L. Harrell, D. Geringas, S. Isserlis, G. Kremer, M. Maisky, G. Sollima, G. Hoffman, A. Tamestit, K. Gerstein, N. Gutmann, D. Rossi, E. Dindo, M. Brunello, I. Monighet. Brunello I. Monighetti.

Luca studied cello with Luca Simoncini at the Francesco Venezze Conservatory in his hometown of Rovigo. Masterclasses with David Geringas, Lynn Harrel, Enrico Dindo and Marti Roussi have provided him with further experience and inspiration. 

He was a member of the cello excellence class with M° Gautier Capuçon at the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris and the R. Romanini Academy in Brescia with M° G. Sollima. He was also awarded the Boris Pergamenschikov Scholarship and the M. Giorgetti scholarship from the "Filarmonica della Scala di Milano". 

In 2020 Luca recorded a CD for the label Velut Luna with the complete cello sonatas by Brahms with the pianist Leonora Armellini.

He plays a cello by Ansaldo Poggi dating from 1927, which is loaned to him by Mario Brunello.

Luca studied at Kronberg Academy from 2019 to 2023 with Frans Helmerson. These studies were funded by the Angela Winkler patronage.
