Eri Sugita

Eri Sugita was born in Kobe (Japan). She studied at the Toho High School of Music at Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo. From 2008 to 2010 she studied as a young soloist at Kronberg Academy. She studied at the University of the Arts (Universität der Künste)in Berlin and studied string quartet at the University of Music, Drama and Media Hannover.

Eri Sugita studied the violin with Yu Nishiwada, Koichiro Harada and the viola with Nobuo Okada, Nobuko Imai, Hartmut Rohde and Amihai Grosz. She studied string quartet with Oliver Wille.

As a soloist she has played with Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra,the Sinfonietta Frankfurt and the Philharmonie Baden-Baden, Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra. She is founder member of Quartet Berlin-Tokyo.

Eri Sugita has won many prizes, including ARD International Music Competition String Quartet, Salieri-Zinetti International Chamber Music Competition, First Prize and Audience Prize at the Orlando International String Quartet Competition, Irene Steels-Wilsing Foundation Competition, International Competition “Franz Schubert and Modern Music” in Graz, the “HSBC Laureates 2015” from Aix-en-Provence Festival, Joseph Joachim Chamber Music Competition in Weimar, Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition and Banff International String Quartet Competition.

She performed at the Berlin Philharmonie, the Heidelberger Frühling String Quartet Festival, Aix-en-Provence Festival, Oslo Chamber Music Festival, Holzhausenschlöschen String Quartet Festival in Frankfurt, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Hitzacker Music Festival etc.

Eri Sugita performed as guest Principal Viola at the Münchner Symphoniker and the Konzerthaus Kammerorchester Berlin, and was a member of the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra.

From 2008 to 2010, she studied at Kronberg Academy with Nobuko Imai.
