Annette Ziegler

Annette Ziegler had her first violin lessons with Christiane Bergmann at the Musikschule Taunus when she was six years old. She later went on to train with Professor Alfred Breith (Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts) and Phillip Roy (concertmaster with the Freiburg-based SWR-Symphony Orchestra). She studied orchestral music with Professor Anne Shih at the Mainz School of Music and then continued her studies with Professor Stephan Picard (Hanns Eisler School of Music) in Berlin.

Annette Ziegler took piano lessons with Gerhard Schroth at the Musikschule Taunus and studied that subject with Professor Matthias Fuchs (Mainz School of Music). She then continued her studies with the concert pianist Connie Shih in Freiburg.

She supplemented her musical training by taking part in numerous music courses and festivals in Germany, Italy and France with both instruments. Since the age of eight, she has given concerts in Germany and abroad as a soloist with orchestras and in various chamber music and other ensembles.

Annette Ziegler started gaining orchestral experience at the age of 12, first playing in the Youth Symphony Orchestra of the German federal state of Hesse and then in the German Federal Youth Orchestra under well-known conductors such as Gerd Albrecht and Andrey Boreyko. From 2006 to 2012 she took part regularly in Kammerphilharmonie Frankfurt rehearsal periods and projects and was a member of the Mainzer Virtuosi. Concert tours have taken her, for example, to France, Italy, Spain, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Egypt, South Africa and Israel.

In was at an early stage that Annette Ziegler discovered her passion for passing on her love and knowledge of music to young people. This has led her to teach at a range of institutions, including the Musikschule Taunus in Eschborn (2006-2013), where she began instructing at the age of 16. Since 2011, she has taught violin and chamber music at Kronberg Academy’s Emanuel Feuermann Conservatory, and has also been Artistic Director of the Conservatory since 2014. In addition, she is a tutor of violin and chamber music at the Musikakademie Wuppertal, of which she is a founding member.

In complement to her fixed teaching positions, Annette Ziegler likewise teaches at a variety of masterclass events in Germany and abroad, including at the State Music Academy of Rhineland-Palatinate, from 2015-2019 at the international Appassionato masterclasses in Florence and at the Musicalta international Festival in France.

Another matter close to her heart is supporting youngsters to engage in chamber music at an early age. Alongside numerous chamber music projects, she has assisted a variety of youth orchestras as both a tutor and artistic director, working from 2012-2015 at the Johanniter Order estate in Thuringia, at the Landesmusikakademie Hessen in 2016 and teaching annually at Burg Fürsteneck since 2017. As a co-founder of its Youth String Orchestra, she organises rehearsal periods and concerts, and also works there as a tutor. She has been a teacher for the Hochtaunus Youth Symphony Orchestra since 2017.

Annette Ziegler acts as an adjudicator at a variety of competitions, including Jugend musiziert and the international World Vision Music Contest. She has been a member of the Hochtaunus and Wetterau District regional committee for Jugend musiziert since 2019.

Many of her students have won several competition prizes (e.g. Jugend musiziert, Mendelssohn Competition) and study at German universities of music.
