Alexander Sachs

Born in 1990 in Vancouver, Canada, Alexander Sachs had his first violin lessons at the Vancouver Academy of Music when he was five years old and then studied with Professor Taras Gabora. In 2002 he won first prize at the Concerto Competition and made his solo debut with the Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra. From 2008 to 2012 he studied with Professor Anne Shih at the Mainz School of Music and since 2012 he has been studying for a Master’s degree with Professor Sophia Jaffe at Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts. He has taken masterclasses throughout Europe (e.g. International Musicians Seminar Prussia Cove, England; Casalmaggiore International Festival, Italy; Festival Musiques en Voutes, France).

He holds a Neumeyer Consort scholarship (performances throughout Germany in major concert series for ancient music) and has the backing of Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now in Frankfurt am Main (performances as a member of the Goethe String Trio). In 2013 and 2014 he won the chamber music prize awarded by the Polytechnische Gesellschaft in Frankfurt am Main (member of the Ensemble sans Rideau and the Eliot Quartet). He has gained orchestral experience (first and second violin) as a member of the Darmstadt State Orchestra.

He has been teaching violin at the Emanuel Feuermann Conservatory since 2014 and has a particular focus on holistic tuition that brings the best out of students.
