The appearance of Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine on Easter's Sunday at Casals Forum was a big success: Invited by Kronberg Academy, the youth orchestra presented itself in the Taunus and was received and welcomed warmly. At the concert, a donation sum of more than €27,000 was raised. Due to the high demand for tickets the orchestra along with Kronberg Academy decided to offer an additional concert on the same day. The young orchestra musicians were enthrilled about their stay in Kronberg.
The performance was led by reknowned ukrainian conductor Oksana Lyniv, who founded the youth orchestra in 2016. After the piece „Maria’s City“ by Ukrainian composer Zoltan Almashi and Maurice Ravel's „Pavane pour une infante défunte“, the orchestra was joined by Dmytro Udovychenko as violin soloist in Felix Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto op. 64. (Udovychenko, who is currently studying at Kronberg Academy with Christian Tetzlaff, was also the first prize winner at prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition 2024 in Brussels). The concert program culminated in Robert Schumanns 1st Symphony in B flat major op. 38, the „Spring Symphony“.
At the beneficial concert, donations were requested for the current situation in Ukraine. Over all, more than €27,000 were raised, which the orchestra will use for future activities and projects. Since beginning of the war in Ukraine, Kronberg Academy was able to collect donations sums of about €84,000 in total for the Ukrainian orchestra.
