Collaborating with the German UNESCO representation, Kronberg Academy is able to present a „Young Artists' Concert for Peace“ at the UNESCO Headquarters Paris on November 7th – a special concert which directs to people all over the world as a gesture of peace. The concert connects to the historical words and the vision of cellist Pablo Casals, who gave a concert at the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1971 and invoked the power of music for world peace. His humanist message, which still guides Kronberg Academy today, is now being carried on by a new generation of young musicians.
The concert is not only an expression of the idea of peace, but is also intended to commemorate a significant historical moment in world history, the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. The commemoration is a reminder of how cultural and spiritual bridges can ensure understanding in a time of change. The musicians performing at Kronberg Academy come from seven different nations and in this way represent a reflection of the international world community. Through the language of music, which transcends all borders, they create a connection that fosters understanding and compassion.
When making music together, the young artists learn how important it is to listen carefully in order to produce a finely tuned performance. In ensemble playing, the musicians learn to pay attention to each other, to react to the intentions of their partners and to create soundscapes together that are greater than the sum of their parts. This dynamic musically symbolizes the principles of peaceful coexistence: respect, dialogue and openness. With composers as diverse as Dvořák, Debussy, Mendelssohn and Tchaikovsky, the concert program also offers an impressive cross-section of music from a wide variety of countries. As an encore, the composition “Song of the Birds” by Pablo Casals will unite the musicians and the audience in the universal message of peace and international understanding.
Raimund Trenkler, founder and director of Kronberg Academy, says: “We are proud to be able to create this special moment with UNESCO. The 'Young Artists Concert for Peace' is an opportunity for us to use the universal language of music to bring the creative power of togetherness and peace to life. With our young artists, we want to set an example that reaches far beyond the concert and inspires people all over the world to seek dialog and build bridges.”
With the “Young Artists Concert for Peace”, the young artists of Kronberg Academy will succeed in deeply moving the international audience at UNESCO headquarters. Their concert can be seen as an appeal that is particularly relevant in the run-up to the UNESCO General Assembly - and a sign that music is a universal force that can inspire people around the world to mutual understanding.
