Violin & Viola Masterclasses

September 25 to October 3, 2025

Illustrious virtuosos and great teachers show us what lies within and behind the music.

In 2025, the Kronberg Festival will become a summit for the violin and viola – a public teaching and learning event where Kolja Blacher, Mihaela Martin, Vadim Gluzman, Donald Weilersteinen, Tabea Zimmermann and Nobuko Imai teach students of all nationalities. Anyone who listens in on the public tuition sessions can see and hear how many ways there are to get closer to music. And the Kronberg Festival will likewise shine a spotlight on the violin and viola. Held in parallel to the Masterclasses, the Festival concerts will provide a lesson in mastery from leading young talents and renowned violin and viola virtuosos.

Learn from the masters

As always, the highlight of the Violin & Viola Masterclasses will be the two closing concerts which provide a forum for presenting discoveries made during the workshops. These concerts offer a platform for performances from selected masterclass students and for the presentation of four sponsorship awards.

Registration start: Mon, 10 March 2025
Registration deadline: Mon, 2 June 2025
(Further information on registration will be available here soon.)

For participants

Every two years since 2009, ambitious violin students from across the globe have come together in Kronberg. Here, for a whole week, they gain major inspiration from six great teachers and experience exceptional artists at first hand in their Kronberg Festival concerts - this year under the motto “Good Vibrations”. In addition, a wide range of parallel events provides stimuli for these professional musicians of the future. During the closing concert of selected masterclass students, four sponsorship awards are presented: the Manfred Grommek Prize for Young String Players, the Prince of Hesse Prize, the Ana Chumachenco Award and the Nobuko Imai Sponsorship Award.
