Chamber Music Connects the World, junior

The German-Italian violinist Chiara Sannicandro was born in 1997 in Salzburg and was admitted as a young student to the University Mozarteum Salzburg at the age of only nine. She earned her Bachelor's degree at the Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington, Indiana, under Mauricio Fuks, and is currently studying with Rainer Schmidt at the Musik Akademie Basel.

In 2020, she won the second prize at the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Pörtschach and emerged as a laureate and winner of the Audience Prize at the international Joseph Joachim Violin Competition in Hannover in 2021. She also emerged as a prizewinner in the Hudson Valley Philharmonic String Competition in New York.

Chiara Sannicandro received significant musical inspiration through participation in numerous chamber music projects and masterclasses with artists such as Mihaela Martin, Ani Kavafian, Tanja Becker-Bender, Augustin Hadelich, and Leonidas Kavakos.

As a soloist, she has performed concerts in Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Romania, and Portugal, as well as in the United States and Canada. This year, she can be experienced for the first time at the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival and with the Kammerakademie Potsdam. Chiara Sannicandro is also an enthusiastic chamber and orchestral musician. She has participated in the International Musicians Seminar in Prussia Cove, serves as concertmaster of the Indiana University Chamber Orchestra, and regularly performs with the Camerata Salzburg.
