Friedrich Thiele, born in 1996, already won a lot of national and international prizes. In September 2019 he just won the 2nd prize, audience award, and prize for the best interpretation of the commissioned piece at the ARD Music Competition in Munich.
In March 2019 he won the prize of “Deutscher Musikwettbewerb” in Nuremberg, as well as a special prize of “Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben”.
2016-2021, Friedrich was a student in the class of Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt in Weimar. Before then, he did his junior music studies in the class of Prof. Peter Bruns in Leipzig from the years of 2011-2016.
After his successes at the International Competition in Markneukirchen 2019 (2nd prize, audience award and orchestra award), the competition “Ton und Erklärung” in 2017 (1st prize) and the competition “TONALi” in 2015 (3rd prize and audience prize), his international career began.
As a soloist, Friedrich was invited to perform with the “Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks”, the orchestra of the national theatre in Brasília, the “Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen”,
the “Orquestra Sinfónica Simón Bolívar” in Caracas, the radio-symphony orchestra of Prague and the Symphony orchestra of Nuremberg. He already played in a lot of big concert halls, such as the Mariinsky-Theatre in St. Petersburg, the “Elbphilharmonie” and the “Laeiszhalle” in Hamburg, as well as the “Herkulessaal” and “Gasteig” in Munich.
As a passionate chamber musician, Friedrich gave his debut at the festival “Heidelberger Frühling”, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Molyvos International Festival and the „Vadim Repin Trans-Siberian Art Festival“. He played together with Igor Levit, Benjamin Beilman, Volker Jacobsen, Viviane Hagner and Marc-André Hamelin.
He has been supported by the „Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben“ since 2010, and plays a French Cello from the second half of the 19th century, sponsored by the „Deutsche Musikinstrumentenfonds“.
Since 2021, he has been 1st concertmaster of the violoncellos in the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden.
In 2018, Thiele took part in Kronberg’s Cello Masterclasses & Concerts, where he received a sponsorship award. He has been studying at Kronberg Academy with Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt since 2020. His studies were funded by the Renate und Peter von Metzler patronage.
