Otoha Tabata
Chamber Music Connects the World, junior
The Japanese violist Otoha Tabata made her solo debut at the age of eleven in London. Since then, she has performed as a soloist in prestigious concert halls such as Wigmore Hall, the Concertgebouw, and the Queen Elizabeth Hall. Her recent awards include the third prize at the Windsor Festival International String Competition and the Encouragement Prize at the Anton Rubinstein Viola Competition.
As a passionate chamber musician, Otoha Tabata has been invited to festivals such as the Heidelberg Spring, IMS Prussia Cove Open Chamber Music, and the Ravinia Steans Music Institute, as well as being a member of the "Collegium," an ensemble founded and directed by Lawrence Power. Since 2023, she has been an academy member of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra and a fellow of the Villa Musica Chamber Music Academy. She has participated in the Seiji Ozawa International Academy and the Verbier Festival Academy, where she received the Special Prize of Merit in 2021. Additionally, she collaborated with Nicola Benedetti as an ambassador for the Benedetti Foundation Sessions.
Otoha Tabata entered the Yehudi Menuhin School at the age of ten and later studied with Boris Kucharsky, Andriy Vitovych, and Nathan Braude. Currently, she continues her studies privately with Nobuko Imai and at the Royal College of Music in London, where she has received a full scholarship as a Richard Goulding Scholar.
