Four-year-old Marie-Astrid Hulot began learning the violin so that she might someday be able to form a trio with her brother, who was already learning the cello, and her sister on the piano. Ultimately, however, she was the only one who stuck with music, even dedicating her life to it. Here, her most important goal is also the motto she lives by: to make people happy through music, as far as she is able to. This is because she firmly believes that music can move everyone, since everyone understands this universal language. Consequently, as a musician, she sees herself confronting a great task in a challenging career. Her own happiness is therefore also an important aim in life: she always finds this in her family, in books, nature and cooking – and, of course, in music.

Born in 1997, French violinist Marie-Astrid Hulot began playing the violin when she was four years old. After studying under Annick Roussin at the Conservatoire à royonnement régional de Paris, at the age of 14 she gained a place in the class of Olivier Charlier at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, and received her master’s degree in 2017. From 2017 to 2018, she studied for her graduate recital with Mihaela Martin at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne.

Marie-Astrid Hulot won second prize in the 2016 Dominique Peccatte International Violin Competition and in the 2017 Marie Cantagrill International Violin Competition. She was also awarded the Marteau prize in the 2017 International Violin Competition Henri Marteau. Laureate of the Banque Populaire Foundation 2018, she is named “Révélation classique de l'ADAMI 2019”. In 2019 she won the second prize of the Carl Nielsen Competition.

Alongside her competition successes, she gained orchestral experience as leader of the Orchestre Français des Jeunes under the batons of David Zinman and Denis Russell Davies. As a soloist, she has already performed with the orchestra of the Conservatoire de Paris and with the National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia conducted by Vahan Mardirossian. Marie-Astrid Hulot is a regular guest of chamber music festivals in her native France. In 2013, she also worked with Pamela Franck, Nobuko Imai and others at the Seiji Ozawa International Chamber Music Academy.

Her first album recorded in October 2015 is dedicated to works for solo violin from J.S Bach to Eric Tanguy and was acclaimed by the critic. In 2016, she won the 2nd Prize of the Peccatte's International Violin Competition. In March 2019 she was awarded the 2nd prize at the Carl Nielsen International Violin Competition. 

She performed as a soloist with several orchestras : the Beethoven Bonn orchestra or the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. Concertmaster of an orchestra, she played at the Konzerthaus in Berlin and at the Paris' Philharmonie.

From 2018 to 2022, she studied at Kronberg Academy with Mihaela Martin. Her studies were funded by the v. Opel/Dr. Schaefer Scholarship.
